Terms of service
Effective: October 8, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and SharpMD ("SharpMD", "we"), which is run by a company organized in Delaware, United States. By creating an account or using the hosted service you accept them. If you do not agree, do not use the hosted service.
1. What these terms cover
They cover the hosted service: the cloud account and its notes at sync.sharpmd.app, sharing, public links, live sessions, the connection for an AI (MCP), the API and the automations, the community gallery, the sites published at pages.sharpmd.app and the website at sharpmd.app.
They do not cover the software. The app is open source under the MIT license and the sync server under AGPL-3.0, and those licenses are what apply to the code. If you run your own server, these terms do not apply to it: you are the one who operates it.
The editor works without an account. Files you open from your disk stay on your device and never reach us.
2. Your account
- You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email address. There is no account password, so whoever can read that mailbox can sign in. Keep it safe.
- An account is for one person. Do not share it. To work with other people, share notes or use a team.
- You must be at least 13 years old, or 16 where the law of your country requires it. If you use SharpMD for an organization, you confirm that you can accept these terms for it.
- You are responsible for what is done with your account, and with the tokens, the inbound addresses and the links you create. Whoever has one of them can do what it allows. You can revoke a token, remove an address or a link, and end a live session at any time from the app.
- If you think someone else got into your account, write to hello@sharpmd.app.
3. Your content is yours
The notes and everything else you put in SharpMD belong to you. We claim no ownership of them.
To run the service we need a limited permission: to store your content, back it up, send it between your devices and show it to the people and tools you choose. That means the accounts you share a note with, anyone who has a public link you created, the visitors of a site you published, the guests of a live session you opened, the AI or service you connected with a token, and everyone in the case of a contribution to the community gallery once it is approved. The permission exists only to provide the service, and it ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from the time it may take for backups to be replaced.
- SharpMD does not use your content to train AI models, and does not hand it to anyone for that purpose.
- We do not sell your content and we do not use it for advertising.
- We do not look at the text of your notes, except when you ask us for help with it, when we need to in order to review a report or an abuse of the service, or when the law requires it.
- You are responsible for your content, and for having the right to store, share or publish it. The rules are in Acceptable use.
- If something stored or published here infringes your copyright, the steps to report it and our designated agent are in Copyright. An account that infringes repeatedly is closed.
- What you contribute to the community gallery can be added and used by anyone. You can withdraw it at any time. Copies other people already added stay on their devices.
Privacy lists what the server stores and for how long.
4. Protected folders
A folder protected with a password is encrypted in your browser before it is uploaded. We cannot read it, unless you unlock it for your own AI, and then only for the time you chose. If you lose both the password and the backup key, its notes cannot be recovered, by you or by us. There is no back door and no reset. The names of its notes and folders, their size and the date they changed stay visible to the server.
5. Plans, payment and renewal
- There is a free plan and paid plans. What each one includes and what it costs is on the plans section of the home page.
- The free plan holds 10 cloud notes, and includes the connection for an AI (MCP) over those notes and all the built-in themes. Uploading images is part of the paid plan: up to 10 MB per image and 1 GB per account, or 2 GB per person on a team.
- Payments are handled by Paddle, which sells the subscription as the reseller and merchant of record. Paddle charges you, adds the taxes that apply in your country and issues the receipt in its own name. Paddle's own terms for buyers apply to the payment. SharpMD never sees your card.
- A paid plan is a subscription. It renews by itself every month or every year, at the price in force, until you cancel it.
- You cancel whenever you want, from the link in the Paddle receipt or from Settings, Plan in the app. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and the plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for.
- When a paid plan ends, the account goes back to the free plan. Your notes are not deleted, and you can still read and edit them. While the account holds more notes than the free plan allows, no new cloud notes can be added. The images already uploaded stay, and no new ones can be uploaded. What belongs to the paid plan stops working, and a published site is taken down 7 days later, with its settings and its address kept for when the plan comes back.
- If a price changes, we tell you by email at least 30 days before the renewal it applies to, so you can cancel first.
- Refunds are in the Refund policy.
6. Teams
Where a team plan is available, the account that pays for the team manages it: invitations, members and seats. Administrators set the role of each member and the settings of the team space.
- The notes in the team space belong to the team, not to a person. Every member reads them, and administrators and editors edit them. They stay with the team when someone leaves or is removed.
- Administrators can read an activity log of the team space: who did what and on which note. It never holds the text of a note.
- Members see the email addresses of the other members.
- Your own notes stay yours. Nobody in the team, including whoever manages it, can read them. If you leave the team, you keep them and go back to your own plan.
- The team plan is charged per person each month, from 2 people. It starts with 14 free days, once per account.
- If the subscription of the team ends, the team keeps its people and its notes. They can still be read and edited, and nothing is deleted.
- Whoever manages a team is responsible for inviting people who are allowed to use it, and for what the team does with its space.
7. AI and other connections
SharpMD provides no AI of its own. You decide what to connect.
- An AI agent or a service that you connect with a token acts for you. It can read and write whatever that token reaches, and what it does counts as done by you. Give each token the smallest reach that does the job. A token can be limited to one folder.
- The assistant with your own key sends the text you ask about from your browser straight to the provider you chose. That provider handles it and bills it under its own terms.
- An automation sends data to the address you set. What happens to it there depends on the service behind that address.
- We are not responsible for what a third party that you connected does with your notes, or for the availability, the answers or the charges of that third party.
8. Automations and the API
Use them reasonably. Each token, automation and inbound address has request limits, which are in the API page, and we may slow down or pause one that overloads the service. A webhook that keeps failing is turned off, and the app shows it.
We do not guarantee that a notice reaches a destination run by someone else. A failed delivery is retried a few times and then dropped.
9. Availability and your own copies
We work to keep the service running, but we do not promise that it will always be available or free of errors. It can stop for maintenance or because something failed, on our side or on the side of a provider we depend on.
The database is backed up every day. Those backups are there to restore the service after a failure, not to recover one note you deleted: for that there are the trash and, on the paid plan, the version history. Keep a copy of what matters to you. A note is a Markdown file, you can save it to your disk from the app at any time, and on the paid plan the API reads all of them.
10. Changes to the service, and closing it
The service changes over time: features are added, changed and sometimes removed. If we remove a feature from a plan you pay for, or if we decide to close the service, we tell you by email at least 30 days before, and during that time you can take your notes out.
11. Suspension and closing of accounts
You can delete your account at any time from Settings, Cloud, "Delete account". If it pays a subscription, cancel it first.
We may suspend or close an account, or take down what it shared or published, when it breaks these terms or the Acceptable use rules, when the law requires it, or when it puts the service or other people at risk. We tell you why by email, unless the law does not let us or the account exists only to abuse the service. When we can, you get the chance to take your notes out first. That does not include content that is illegal to keep or to hand over.
12. No warranties
The service is provided as it is and as it is available. To the extent the law allows, we give no warranties beyond what these terms say, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
13. Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, SharpMD is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for lost profits, lost data or lost business, that come from using the service or from not being able to use it. Our total liability for any claim about the service is limited to what you paid for it in the 12 months before the event that caused the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits the rights that the consumer law of your country does not allow to be limited, or a liability that the law does not allow to be excluded.
14. Law and courts
These terms are governed by the laws of Delaware, United States, and disputes go to the courts located there. If you are a consumer and the law of your country gives you the right to its protections and to its courts, these terms do not take that away.
15. Changes to these terms
When we change these terms we update the date at the top. If a change is important, we tell the accounts by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using the service after that date, you accept the new terms. If you do not agree, you can cancel and delete your account. Earlier versions of this page are in the history of the public repository.
16. The rest
This page is written in English and in Spanish. If the two differ, the English version applies. If a court finds a part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies. These terms, with the Privacy, Refund policy, Acceptable use and Copyright pages, are the whole agreement between you and SharpMD about the service.

- Tus notas propias siguen siendo tuyas.
